Masturbation

Question

Dear Fanny,  I’m in my mid 30s and I still masturbate, alot!  I have a healthy sex  life too, but my sex drive just doesn’t seem to be slowing down as I get older, is this normal?

Billy

Answer

Lucky you Billy!  Masturbation is a perfectly normal, healthy part of human sexuality.  The fact that you still indulge in a little ‘self love’ AND have a healthy sex life just shows you’re a healthy man with a high sex drive.

Yes the common idea is that as you get older your sex drive decreases, but there are exceptions to every rule.  Many men (and women) still enjoy a healthy, active sex life AND masturbate well into their later years.  I for one hope I never grow out of it!

Men never actually stop producing testosterone entirely.  Which is the magic hormone that affects male labido.  Your sex drive is much more likely to be affected by stress, fatigue, losing desire for your partner etc.  So take it as a good sign that all is well in your world.

The pros and cons of masturbation are shrouded in mystery and myth.  The internet will tell you anything from it causing blindness to it curing cancer.  The general consensus from the medical world however is that masturbation is actually the safest kind of sex going, so crack on! (obviously they word it in a much more professional, long winded way, but hey, I’m the Princess of Porn, not a medical schloar.

Embrace your sexual prowess.  As long as you’re happy that your alone time isn’t affecting/interrupting your everyday life and it makes you feel good then it’s all good my friend, knock yourself out!
